Different Types of Brick Paver Patterns

Top Three Paver Patterns

Now that you have decided to install pavers at your home, the next step is choosing your paver pattern. Depending on the type of pavers you choose you can have a variety of patterns to choose from. Here we will list, with photographs, our top 3 paver patterns.

Herringbone Paver Pattern

Herringbone is a widely known pattern used mostly for 4x8 bricks and often recognized from its alternating V-shape. It can be placed in two different ways to give off the alternating V-shape effect: 45 degree & 90 degree. Herringbone is a good choice for a clean and classic look for your hardscape projects.

This Herringbone paver driveway is the perfect combination of traditional and modern. Herringbone is one of our most favorite patterns to lay. It provides an immense amount of dimension and design to any project.

Running Bond Pattern

Another popular pattern is the running bond pattern. It is often recognized by its straight, yet offset appearance. Running bond is laid in a straight line, with the next line on each side starting halfway through its neighboring brick. Running is one of the most popular patterns used world wide for hardscape projects because of its elegant appearance.

Random Pattern- the most versatile paver pattern. This Driveway above is laid using Tremron’s Sierra colored, 3pc paver. We used the random pattern on this large scale driveway to create an entrance worth of praise!

Random Paver Pattern

The most common pattern used at American Paving Design when using multiple different sized pavers is the Random pattern. Many customers choose to go with 2 or 3 different sized stones for their new outdoor living area. While many customers choose the random pattern, all of their projects are unique, because no one project will ever have the exact same layout while using the random pattern.

Running bond can be done with a few different paver types. This pool deck was installed using Tremron’s 2pc Ultra Combo in Glacier. Laid straight across, the Running Bond pattern is very modern and sleek. Perfect for pool decks or other outdoor living spaces.
